Olympian Authors

We will be sharing our daily writing adventures in this section.
I will be implementing the Wrtier’s Workshop method of instruction with your students.  We will begin our writing class with a minilesson at our carpet area.  An explicit skill will be modeled and students will then work independently, in partners, or in groups to acquire and demonstrate mastery of this skill through their independent writing.  While students are working, I will be conferencing with a few students each day.  At the end of our workshop we will return to the carpet and share our experiences with mastering this skill.  This is time for us to celebrate our mistakes and challenges and learn from each other.  This will offer an opportunity for me to also quickly reinforce the skill they have been taught for the day.

We will be working together to master the following Georgia Performance Standards:
ELA3W1 The student demonstrates competency in the writing process.

ELA3W2 The student writes in a variety of genres, including narrative, informational, persuasive, and response to literature.

ELA3C1 The student demonstrates understanding and control of the rules of the English language, realizing that usage involves the appropriate application of conventions and grammar in both written and spoken formats.

ELA3LSV1 The student uses oral and visual strategies to communicate.
